Pankaj Bhojnalaya, Ooty, Tamil Nadu

Spotted a unique restaurant in Ooty in the heart city. You would love to eat and visit this place if you are looking out for north indian food in Ooty.

They serve you authentic Gujarati, Marathi, Rajasthani food.

After a long time, we were on vacation for three days. This time it was Ooty. The best part was, the trip was on our own car. Namrata's parents also accompanied us and the trip was memorable.

The monsoon in south would be arriving arrive next week and we were just in time for current Ooty season. Our 3 year old son Aarav enjoyed the wild life and natural beauty.

Date and Time: Sunday, 1st June, 2014 at 12.30 pm.

Restaurant Cuisine: North Indian - Home food
The restaurant also serves Jain food.

Nonfood experience

Parking
The restaurant is on the main road and there is no parking space. It is in the center of the city and therefore I do not expect parking to be right outside the restaurant.

Restaurant Entry
The restaurant is on the First floor. It has a typical tourist spot raw look.

Wheel chair access
No, this is disappointing.

Waiting area
No  waiting space. You can stand on the balcony and enjoy the crowd on the market and watch all the tourist shopping.

Seating Experience
We approached the person in the restaurant and he showed us the way towards seating. The gentleman on the counter had a smile on his face.

Food experience
We opted to have Thali. We were four adults and we ordered for three Thali's. The quantity in the thali is sufficient for four adults. They serve 4 chapati's and a bowl of rice.

Lets zoom-in to the Thali.

The Thali had 5 gravy's including Pulses. I loved every thing.

Breads – Tawa Roti, they served us one at a time.
The breads were served hot and we liked it.

Deserts - I did not have gulab jamun but my Son Aarav had all the three gulab jamun. He must have liked it.

Aam ras (Mango juice) -  It is must have and we had asked for one mango juice which is shared by all of us.

Cost
We paid 140 Rs including taxes for each thali and 60 Rs for mango juice. The restaurant is value for money and quality. This will not pinch your pocket at all.

Restaurant Exit
Smooth and happy exit.

Time spent in the restaurant
1 hrs

The good experience
Seating and Service.
Homely food
Smiling faces

The bad experience
Restroom not tidy.

My Recommendation
Yes - If you want to have north indian food.
